Sweet Spring

S W E E T  S P R I N G  2 0 1 7

Spring is here and flowers are already blooming.   Daffodils, cherry blossoms, trillium, & daisies to name a few.  Seeds and roots begin to grow and  break through the soil after being dormant through the winter months.  Spring is the season for new beginnings.

In-balance: beginnings, cleaning home & body, elimination, exercise, garden, greens, sprouts, creativity, enthusiasm

Imbalance: same old stuff, excess, congestion, laziness, weeds, drugs, overeating

.  The liver has many functions but one of it main responsibilities is cleaning toxins and waste from our blood.  Spring is the perfect time to detox the liver so it functions properly.  Here is a simple liver flush I have done every spring since my days studying at the Dandelion Herbal Center.

Liver Flush: 1/2 cup orange juice 1/4 cup lemon juice 1/4 cup water 1-2 cloves garlic, 1T olive oil

Mix all ingredients in blender, drink first thing in the morning, follow with 1-2 cups tea (equal parts fennel, flax, and fenugreek) wait at least one hour before eating.  Repeat for 5-10 consecutive days.

Good foods for the liver: Beets, parsley, nettle, dandelion, miso, carrots, lemon water, dark leafy greens

Winter is a time for slowing down & keeping warm. In the plant world, the aerial parts have died off, but the roots & bulbs remain alive.  They are resting, living off stored food until the spring.

In-balance: Keeping warm, stay quiet, sleep well, be at home, look within

Imbalance: overactive, late nights & parties, lack of rest & sleep, dissipation, frustration, hoarding

This podcast is an honest exploration of the art of radical self care; including the many challenges we face as women, and how to transform them.
